Planning Commission Application

STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND OBLIGATIONS FOR PLANNING COMMISSION

The City Council appoints Planning Commissioners to review and make recommendations to the City Council on land use, development growth, and various social-economic patterns affecting the quality of life for residents of Twentynine Palms. The appointment to the Commission is for a four-year term. Much of the Commissioner's time is spent conducting public hearings on land use entitlement applications and Development Code regulations. The needs of the citizens generate some hearings; others by actions of the Commission in reviewing the City's General Plan and regulatory ordinances developed by staff.

The Planning Commission meets on the first and third Tuesday of every month at 5:00 p.m. (unless otherwise scheduled). In recognition of services, Commissioners are given $150.00 per meeting attended. Amounts will be paid on the last payroll week of each month. Commissioners must reside within the city limits of the City of Twentynine Palms and be registered voters. The application must be received before 6:00 p.m. on the due date. The City Council will make appointments as soon as possible after that.
