New Business Checklist

We are excited to have new businesses in our City. Please make sure to research the permits that may be required which will depend upon the type of business you plan to operate. If you are planning to do business in the City of Twentynine Palms, you must obtain a City of Twentynine Palms Business License. If you are starting a new business, you must also check with the City Planning Department as well as the Building and Safety to ensure that your business is permitted for the location you are considering for your business. If using a business name other than your own, make sure to contact the San Bernardino County Clerk/Recorder office to record a Fictitious Business Name and contact the State Board of Equalization to find out if you require a state reseller's license.
 
ALL BUSINESSES MAY BE REQUIRED TO DO THE FOLLOWING:
  1. Record a Fictitious Business Name. Visit the San Bernardino County Clerk/Recorder website.
  2. Obtain a Sales Tax (Reseller's) License. Visit the State Board of Equalization website or call (800) 400-7115.
  3. Obtain a City of Twentynine Palms Business License. To apply, use the link below. For questions, Code Enforcement Department with any questions at (760) 367-6799 ext. 1040. 
  4. Food/Restaurant Related Businesses. Contact the San Bernardino County Environmental Health Department to obtain all required permits by using their online portal by clicking HERE.

Payments & Renewals

Renewals are due upon expiration date and no later than 30 days after that date. Late fees apply to all renewals received after the 30-day period after the license has expired. The business owner is responsible to maintain their active business license. Payments for new applications and renewals can be made online when you visit our online portal
