Twentynine Palms Parks & Recreation to Host Youth Sports Coaches Workshop with Positive Coaching Alliance

The City of Twentynine Palms Parks & Recreation Department invites all local youth sports coaches to attend an engaging and interactive workshop, "Developing Competitors Through Positive Coaching." This free training session, designed to empower coaches with the tools to support athletes both on and off the field, will be held:

  • Date: Tuesday, December 17, 2024
  • Time: 6PM - 7:15PM
  • Location: Patriotic Hall (5882 Luckie Avenue, Twentynine Palms, CA 92277)

Facilitated by the Positive Coaching Alliance, the workshop will focus on fostering success for young athletes by emphasizing life skills and sportsmanship. Coaches will learn strategies to help athletes build resilience, manage challenges, celebrate success, and grow as competitors and individuals.

This training is part of the Million Coaches Challenge, an initiative dedicated to training one million youth sports coaches in positive coaching techniques by 2025. Through a grant awarded to the City of Twentynine Palms Parks & Recreation Department, the workshop is offered to the community at no cost. Participants will also receive complimentary goodie bags with coaching tools, funded by the National Recreation and Park Association and the Susan Crown Exchange.

Earlier this fall, volunteer Parks & Recreation soccer, volleyball, and flag football coaches participated in online Positive Coaching Alliance training. By the end of 2024, the department aims to train at least 85 coaches through a combination of online and in-person workshops.
