Go Green This Holiday by Recycling Christmas Trees

TWENTYNINE PALMS, CA – Christmas trees can be a gift to the environment when they are recycled, and the City of Twentynine Palms can help.

After the holidays, residents with curbside trash service may place their undecorated tree at the curb on their regular trash day to be picked up. Christmas trees can also be dropped off for free behind City Hall at 6136 Adobe Road, at the west end of the parking lot in a bin provided by Burrtec Waste and Recycling.

Trees and other seasonal greenery will be collected from December 26, 2022, to January 6, 2023. The trees will be ground up and repurposed as mulch.

“The City is happy to collaborate on this effort to keep trees out of landfills, where they would take years to break down, and put them to good use,” City Manager Frank Luckino said.

Trees should be free of ornaments, lights, tinsel, tree stands, wires and nails. Flocked and artificial trees are not accepted.

Because Christmas and New Year’s Day fall on Sundays, trash service will not be interrupted or delayed.
