Twentynine Palms to Host Inaugural Girls on the Run 5K Celebration at Luckie Park
The City of Twentynine Palms is proud to host its inaugural Girls on the Run 5K Celebration on Thursday, May 22, at Luckie Park. The event begins at 4:30PM at the Rotary Shelter, located at 5882 Luckie Avenue.
This first season of Girls on the Run in Twentynine Palms was made possible through a generous grant from the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) and Nike, with a shared mission to increase gender equity in youth sports. The program serves girls in grades 3-8, empowering them to build confidence, develop life skills, and celebrate physical activity in a supportive, uplifting environment.
The 5K event marks the culmination of the season and serves as a joyful celebration of each participant's courage, growth, and determination. Families, friends, and community members are invited to cheer on the girls as they cross the finish line—a symbolic and powerful moment honoring their achievements.
Join us in recognizing the next generation of strong, confident young women as they run, smile, and soar.
Families interested in the Girls on the Run program are encouraged to sign up for Camp GOTR, a weeklong summer program for girls entering 3rd through 5th grade in the 2025-26 school year. This inclusive program combines fun, physical activity, creativity, and life skill development in an engaging and supportive environment.
This year's theme, "Girls Have Power," focuses on friendship, self-confidence, and self-expression through games, storytelling, and crafts. Two camp sessions are available: July 21-25 and July 28 - August 1, from 8:30AM to 12:30PM at the Luckie Park Activity Center.
Thanks to the NRPA Gender Equity in Youth Sports Community of Practice grant, in partnership with Nike, registration is just $15 per participant. Each session is limited to 30 participants.
