Twentynine Palms Celebrates Culture, Cuisine, and Community at the 2nd Annual International Festival
High winds couldn’t dampen the spirit of celebration at the 2nd Annual International Festival, held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Freedom Plaza in the heart of downtown Twentynine Palms. Residents and visitors alike came together for an evening dedicated to honoring the rich cultural diversity of our region through food, art, music, and dance.
Nearly 20 dedicated vendors braved the windy conditions to share a vibrant array of international cuisines, crafts, and goods from around the world. From savory street food to handmade cultural treasures, each booth offered a unique glimpse into the traditions and flavors of different countries and communities. The City of Twentynine Palms extends its heartfelt appreciation to all the vendors who remained through the gusts and helped make the event a true global experience.
The evening began with an electric performance by Giselle Wood & The Night Owls, who brought their signature sound—infused with desert soul and Latin rock—to the Freedom Plaza stage. Their powerful set energized the crowd and set the tone for a night of celebration and connection.
As the sun set, the stage was turned over to the talented students from Twentynine Palms High School, who closed out the evening with 12 remarkable performances representing cultures from every corner of the globe. Through traditional dances and more modern performances, the students showcased not only their talent but also the importance of cultural appreciation and exchange.
“This event is a beautiful reminder of the diversity that lives within our small desert community,” said Scott Clinkscales, Community Events Coordinator. “Despite the challenging weather, the energy and enthusiasm from our vendors, performers, and attendees made the night unforgettable.”
The City of Twentynine Palms thanks everyone who participated and attended, and looks forward to continuing this tradition of unity, education, and celebration for years to come.
