Applications Now Open for the 2026-2027 Twentynine Palms Youth Council
The City of Twentynine Palms is excited to announce that applications are now open for the 2026-2027 Youth Council. This dynamic leadership program is open to students entering grades 6 through 12 in the fall who are passionate about making a positive impact in their community.
The Youth Council is composed of 14 student members who serve as the voice of local youth, bringing fresh ideas and perspectives to city initiatives. Members meet twice a month, collaborate with city leaders; organize community projects; and gain hands-on experience in leadership, civic engagement, and local government.
Established in 2024, the Youth Council provides opportunities for students to:
- Build strong leadership and communication skills, including training with the National Youth Leadership Council
- Learn how local government functions with meetings with City Councilmembers
- Participate and organize community service and special events, like the City Youth Olympics, Astronomy Night, Food Drive, and Senior Center Volunteering
- Represent youth perspectives and drive positive change
"Our Youth Council has already proven to be a powerful platform for young leaders," said Amy Tessier, Youth Council Advisor. "We're thrilled to continue this journey and invite more students to get involved, speak up, and help shape the future of our city."
Youth Council meetings are held on the first and third Wednesdays of each month from 4:00 to 5:00 PM at the Luckie Park Activity Center. Meetings are open to the public.
Applications are available online at Youth Council - Parks & Recreation - Twentynine Palms, California, as well as in person at City Hall and the Parks and Recreation Office. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, June 3, 2026, by 6:00 PM.
