Lifeguard Certification Course Open for Registration

The City of Twentynine Palms Parks & Recreation Department is excited to announce an upcoming Lifeguard Certification Course designed for individuals looking to develop lifesaving skills and earn an official lifeguard certification. This comprehensive course will equip participants with the necessary training in water rescue, CPR, first aid, and emergency response.

The course will take place April 1-3 at the Luckie Park Pool and is open to individuals aged 15 and older who meet the swimming proficiency requirements. All interested participants must pass a prerequisite swim test that includes swimming 200 yards, treading water using only the legs, and a timed brick dive event. Swim tests are done by appointment only; please call the Recreation office to schedule.

After successful completion of the swim test, individuals may register online for the course. Registration fees for new students is $200, and $100 for those recertifying.

Led by certified Red Cross instructors, the training program will cover essential rescue techniques, proper use of safety equipment, and the skills needed to ensure a safe aquatic environment. Participants will gain hands-on experience and the confidence needed to respond effectively in emergency situations.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a 2-year American Red Cross Lifeguard certification and the opportunity to apply for a summer lifeguard position at the Luckie Park Pool.
