Outhouse Race Trophy Artists

The 86th Annual Pioneer Days will kick off on Saturday, October 1, from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Freedom Plaza in downtown Twentynine Palms. This year, the City of Twentynine Palms is teaming up with the Downtown Business Association (DBA) of Twentynine Palms, known as Rediscover 29, to host this year's Pioneer Days Kick-Off. Both organizations are excited to be bringing back everyone's favorite event, the Outhouse Races!

Earlier this summer, the City of Twentynine Palms put out a call for artists to submit their artist bio and a description of how they would design a wooden toilet seat trophy for the winners of the race. Renowned local artists Elaine BronValerie Mead (owner of Exhale Art Studio), Laurel Siedel (owner of the Glass Outhouse Art Gallery), Quisha Villiers, and Sephora Woldu have been chosen to put their creative minds to the test and design six of this year's Outhouse Race trophies.

There is still one trophy available for a local artist to design. If you are interested, please contact Community Events Coordinator Scott Clinkscales by email at sclinkscales@29palms.org or by calling (760) 367-6799. Deadline to have the trophy completed and returned to the Twentynine Palms Parks & Recreation Department is Friday, September 23, 2022.

Registration is now open for teams to sign up for the Outhouse Races and win a trophy designed by a local artist. This is a great opportunity for organizations, businesses, families, and friends to get together, spend some quality time with each other, work on team building, and build an outhouse to race down Freedom Way. All rules and regulations are available on the DBA's website at rediscover29.com. Along with sign-ups for the Outhouse Races, registration is also available for the Arm Wrestling Competition and Vendors.
