New Twentynine Palms Youth Council Informational Meeting

The City of Twentynine Palms is proud to announce a new and exciting opportunity for rising 6th through 12th-grade students. The City’s new Youth Council will provide our youth with an opportunity to increase their knowledge of civic education and engagement through practical hands-on experience. The Youth Council will be composed of fourteen (14) 6th-12th grade students charged with representing youth in the City of Twentynine Palms. The Youth Council will:

  • Involve youth in local government through participation in attending local meetings;
  • Increase youth voices and communication in Twentynine Palms’ future direction;
  • Increase volunteerism among youth and adults in civic affairs.

Youth Council members will be selected through a competitive application process. An ideal Youth Council will be composed of a diverse group of young people who represent ALL youth in Twentynine Palms. Our primary criterion for selection will be a demonstration that the young person wants to make a difference here in Twentynine Palms – and we will give them an opportunity to do just that.

We will be hosting an informational meeting on April 29, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. at Patriotic Hall (5882 Luckie Avenue) to provide additional information about the new Youth Council.  Applications will be distributed at the meeting; they are also available online at 29palms.org and at the Parks and Recreation office at 74362 Joe Davis Drive. Applications are due to the Parks and Recreation office by May 13th at 6:00 p.m.
