The City of Twentynine Palms, with engineering support from BKF Engineers, is advancing a safety improvement project along five connected streets: El Paseo Drive (from Mesquite Springs Road to Adobe Road), Mesquite Springs Road, Smoketree Avenue, the Civic Center Drive area around City Hall, and Adobe Road between 2 Mile Road and SR-62 (29 Palms Hwy). Together, the project will deliver approximately 4 miles of new sidewalks, ADA-compliant curb ramps, Class II bike lanes, sharrows, and high-visibility pedestrian crossings. Design is at 90% completion.
The City is preparing an Active Transportation Program (ATP) Cycle 8 grant application to fund construction. Applications are due June 22, 2026.
