Duties and Responsibilities:
The City of Twentynine Palms Parks and Recreation Department is seeking an active, energetic, and organized leader to serve as Recreation Coordinator. This position plans, implements and oversees City-sponsored recreational activities at our community center, parks, and/or recreational area for a variety of age groups. Under general supervision of a Recreation Programs Supervisor, this position assists with the development, organization, and coordination of a variation of recreation programs as well as prepares and operates recreation and sports facilities including sports fields, recreational parks, and the City’s public swimming pool. Performs a wide variety of custodial duties, administrative support, and assistance to the Recreation Programs Supervisors and/or Recreation Division Manager. The qualified candidate will also oversee, and direct volunteers and the full range of duties required to ensure that City facilities, recreation programs, activities and services are safe and effective while providing the highest level of customer satisfaction for public use. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
- Must possess an equivalent to the completion of twelfth (12th) grade, supplemented by two (2) years of college of equivalent education with major coursework in recreation or related field and two (2) years of work experience in recreation or closely related programs. Additional experience as outlined above can be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Possession of a valid California Class C Driver’s License at the time of hire, with satisfactory driving record and automobile insurance.
- Possession of or ability to obtain Commercial California Class C Driver’s License with a passenger endorsement within six (6) months of employment.
- Possession of or ability to obtain American Red Cross Certificates in First Aid and CPR within six (6) months of employment. If you currently possess a valid certificate, please attach a copy to your application.
- This position participates in the DOT random drug/alcohol testing program.
