Got Potholes? Call 367-ROAD

The Public Works Department is busy filling potholes in Twentynine Palms. With the weather beginning to warm up, the city’s asphalt roads are reacting with an outbreak of potholes and fractured road surfaces caused from all the winter moisture and snow. According to Public Works Superintendent Jose Nieves, the road repairs are keeping city crews on the move. “Over 7 tons of blacktop has been laid in the past week. At least 2 tons of that was on Mesquite Springs Road, which is a high traffic area,” he said. Twentynine Palms residents can report large potholes or road problems in their neighborhood by calling Public Works at 367-ROAD. “If you leave a message,” Nieves said, “we will get back to you in one business day.” Photo: James Thompson (left) and Mike Mintz patching Mesquite Springs Road in Feb. 2009.

Need Sandbags for Flooding?

To protect your home or business from potential flooding during the current winter rainstorms, SANDBAGS are available at the Twentynine Palms Fire Dept., 6560 Adobe Road, or call the fire station for assistance at (760)367-7524, and at the Wonder Valley Fire Station on Amboy Road, (760)367-3761. Free. Limit 10 per household. Sandbags in quantity are also available for a small charge (38-39 cents each) at Barr Lumber in Twentynine Palms and Home Depot in Yucca Valley, open 7 days a week. For questions or for help assessing property needs, contact the fire department phone numbers above.

$500 Reward - Stop Graffiti!

The City of Twentynine Palms is stepping up its efforts to stop the graffiti vandalism that has occurred throughout the city in the past three months, including numerous City signs and the restroom facilities at Luckie Park. The City is offering a $500 reward to any person who identifies a graffiti vandal who is arrested and successfully prosecuted. Help us keep our city clean! For more information or to report a tagger, contact the City Manager at (760)367-6799.

Family Disaster Planning

The City of Twentynine Palms reminds its residents to review their Family Disaster Plan. As with any city, Twentynine Palms has the potential to experience a multitude of natural disasters. After witnessing disasters throughout the world, many of us ask, “Am I as prepared as I should be in the event of an emergency?” Recent events have shown us that we need to be prepared to survive for up to 72 hours before outside assistance may arrive. Copies of the free guide "Your Family Disaster Plan" are available at City Hall, 6136 Adobe Road, or click the link below to download a copy in Adobe PDF. For more information on disaster planning, contact the City's Emergency Services Coordinator, Ron Peck, at (760)367-6799. See also our Emergency Operations page on this website.
