Morongo Basin Unified School DistrictThe Morongo Basin Unified School District provides highly regarded Kindergarten through 12th grade education for children in Twentynine Palms. Three elementary schools are located within the City limits: Oasis Elementary School, Palm Vista Elementary School, and Twentynine Palms Elementary School. Additionally, Condor Elementary School is located on base at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center. Secondary schools in the City are: Twentynine Palms Junior High School, Twentynine Palms High School, and Monument Continuation High School.
Copper Mountain CollegeLocated just 9 miles from Twentynine Palms in the village of Joshua Tree, Copper Mountain College, a community college currently serving approximately 6,000 enrolled students annually, offers its students the opportunity for a personalized education, in classes that are smaller than those in other institutions. CMC prepares area residents for transfer to private and state universities and colleges, and provides vocational training in accounting, administration of justice, automotive technology, fire science, nursing, early childhood education certification, and computer technology. CMC offers Associate degrees and certificate programs in 24 fields of study. Classes are offered at the Joshua Tree Campus and in various other locations. The Developmental Education program provides all adults of the Morongo Basin the opportunity to enroll in classes directed at completing a high school diploma and/or GED. Copper Mountain Colleges’ academic calendar includes a fall, spring, and summer session beginning in August, January, and June respectively. CMC provides a multitude of benefits to all residents of the local district. In addition to books, the library offers a computer study area with online access to assist students.
California State Polytechnic University, PomonaCal Poly Pomona covers 1,438 acres of rolling green hills and is the second largest in area in The California State University system. Located 87 easy highway miles west of Twentynine Palms, Cal Poly Pomona's hallmark is its learn-by-doing philosophy, directly stemming from its polytechnic mission. The university blends theory and practice in all its disciplines. Students are afforded opportunities to apply their knowledge in hands-on projects, collaborate with faculty members on research, and participate in valuable internships and service-learning programs.
California State University, San BernardinoCalifornia State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) is the sole public, comprehensive, regional university serving the Riverside-San Bernardino counties of Southern California. It is located 87 miles from Twentynine Palms and equidistant between Los Angeles and Palm Springs. The university has established a satellite center, 62 miles from Twentynine Palms, that serves 900 students at the Palm Desert Campus. Cal State is distinguished as the only Inland Empire university with prestigious national accreditation for its College of Business and Public Administration. In addition to an M.B.A. program that is specially tailored for executives, the university has highly respected programs in computer science, geographic information and decision sciences, psychology, health and public administration, accounting and finance, as well as a nationally acclaimed writing program. CSUSB has a leading teacher preparation program that is one of the nation's 10 largest.
University of California, RiversideThe 1,200-acre Riverside campus of the University of California is located approximately 84 miles from Twentynine Palms, it is within easy driving distance to most of the major cultural and recreational offerings in Southern California. In addition, it is virtually equidistant from the desert, the mountains, and the ocean. Enrollment at UCR is presently about 14,500, approximately 11 percent of whom are graduate students. The campus continues to expand, with a number of buildings being constructed or remodeled. These include academic settings such as laboratories, libraries, and performing arts studios, as well as housing and recreational facilities. Prominent features of the campus include the 161-foot carillon tower, the Botanic Gardens, and acres of citrus groves.
