Parks and public facilities located in the City of Twentynine Palms include two community parks, Luckie Park and Knott Sky Park; along with special use areas such as Veteran's Park next to City Hall, Bucklin Park downtown plaza on the highway, the Senior Center and the Community Services Building. Luckie Park Pool

The Luckie Park Pool will be open weekends starting Memorial Day weekend.  After June 11th the pool will be OPEN DAILY from 1 to 5 p.m. until the end of August.   Call (760)367-5777 for information.

Summer Swim Fees effective July 1, 2009:

Adults (18+) $3.00

Child (2-17) $2.75

Senior (55+) $1.25

(Open Swim - Daily 1 to 5 p.m.)

 

Senior/Adult Social Lap Swim - Season Pass $30 

(Monday through Friday 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.)

 

Please be aware that only swimsuits are allowed in the pool. Children that are in diapers must wear appropriate waterproof coverings! Children under 8 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Smoking is not permitted!

 

PRIVATE SWIM PARTY: INSURANCE MANDATORY (not included in fees)

Lifeguards are included in fees.

01-50 Persons $56 per hour

51-75 Persons $66 per hour

76-100 Persons $76 per hour

 

The Twentynine Palms Swim Team holds meets and practices at the Luckie Park pool. For more information, call the Recreation Office at (760)367-7562.

There are seasonal and year-round sports programs and activities that are available to youth and adults. Theatre 29



Theatre 29

Theatre 29 was formed in January of 2000 to bring quality family theater to the City of Twentynine Palms and the outlying community. Theatre 29 is also dedicated to promoting the participation of young people and people of all ages in the theater experience. Theatre 29 presents six major stage productions each year - musicals, dramas, and comedies - as well as an annual Haunted House event at Halloween. The Theatre 29 building, the John Calveri Memorial Theatre, is also used for occasional special peformances, fund-raisers, and community events. 760-361-4151

29 Palms Historical Society - Old Schoolhouse Museum



Old Schoolhouse Museum

The Twentynine Palms Historical Society was founded by nine individuals on April 26, 1982, and incorporated on August 23, 1982, as a non-profit public benefit corporation. In 1992 the society moved the city's original 1927 one-room schoolhouse to a parcel of land on National Park Drive and significantly remodeled the building that is now home to the Old Schoolhouse Museum. Today, the historical society continues its original purpose of preserving and interpreting the historical heritage of the Twentynine Palms area through a variety of museum displays, special collections, historical gatherings and events, and educational activities including lectures, field trips, and a quarterly newsletter. The Old Schoolhouse Museum on National Park Drive is open 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays (summer hours 1-4 Sat.-Sun.). 760-367-2366

29 Palms Art Gallery

The 29 Palms Art Gallery is hosted by the 29 Palms Artists' Guild, founded in 1951 and officially incorporated as an all volunteer, non-profit organization to "create a spirit of cooperation and fellowship between the artist and the public."  Visit our community art gallery and gift shop, which is housed in a historic 1937 adobe building near the Oasis of Mara, located at 74055 Cottonwood Drive, off National Park Drive, in Twentynine Palms. Open 12-3 p.m. Wednesday through Sundays (summer hours 12-3 Sat.-Sun.). 760-367-7819

The Twentynine Palms Youth Club is a private non-profit program located at 5882 Luckie Avenue in Luckie Park. The club offers an after school and summer program for youth ranging from ages 7 to 17.

Golf

Roadrunner Dunes Golf Course

Roadrunner Dunes is open year-round and fully over seeded in the winter. It is a 9-hole course with the finest greens in the desert, plus water obstacles, sand bunkers, and doglegs. Golfers can enjoy a links style course with a true Par 72 round of golf. The property includes a pro shop, chipping area, putting green, and driving range. Roadrunner Dunes is located at 4949 Desert Knoll Avenue off Amboy Road, next to the Twentynine Palms Resort, which offers an RV park, rental cottages, and clubhouse. Desert Winds Golf Course

The 18-hole Desert Winds Golf Course is operated by the MCCS and located aboard the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, CA. The championship-rated course is open to the public and features a driving range, putting greens, and 6,908 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 72.7 and it has a slope rating of 121. Designed by Jeffrey Young, the Desert Winds golf course opened in 1966. Weekday green fees $10-$25; Twilight green fees $5-$12.50; credit cards accepted. (Guests are asked to enter by the Back Gate at Morongo Road off Indian Trail.) Duffers Retreat located nearby offers breakfast and lunch. Printmaking & Art Classes


Learn to make monotype prints and other art creations with Gretchen at the 29 Palms Creative Center!  Explore your creative side and see the artistic underground that exists here in the desert. Classes are offered for adults and kids, for groups or personal instruction. 29 Palms Creative Center & Gallery is a working-studio environment for artists to make tile and glass mozaics, paintings, drawings, prints on a Griffin Etching Press, batiks, sewing, and jewelry.
