The Twentynine Palms Community Trails Plan is an important part of the ongoing work, research, and citizen input connected to the General Plan Update process in 2009-2010. Facilitated by the City of Twentynine Palms Community Services Department, the Morongo Basin Open Space Group, and the National Park Service Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance Program, the effort includes public workshops, study sessions, field trips, work groups, suggested trails and planning input from local Pedestrian, Cyclist, Equestrian, and OHV user groups.

General Plan Update

In January 2009, the Twentynine Palms City Council approved a contract for a comprehensive General Plan Update to be performed by the planning firm Hogle-Ireland, Inc., in conjunction with the City's Community Development Department, Planning Commission, and City Council. On May 12, 2009, a General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC) was appointed to provide public input and assist in the General Plan Update process.

General Plan Website

General Plan Update web site was launched by Hogle-Ireland Inc. for the City of Twentynine Palms in June 2009, containing meeting reports and General Plan materials. A "Community Survey" is also available on the site, where interested individuals can express their opinions about Twentynine Palms and what they see as issues facing the City's future.
